Inspiring Quadriplegic Surfer Overcomes to Follow his Passion

Barney Miller is an inspiration.  A spinal cord injury left him a quadriplegic, but he is determined to dance at his wedding.  Barney is a spokesman for the Wings For Life World Run, and in this video he shows that he won’t let his injury get in the way of his passion for surfing.

With the help of his friends, the quadriplegic surfer gets out on the water to surf at the two places he splits his time, New South Wales, Australia and Carlsbad, CA.

“Everyday I am grateful for what I have”, says Miller.

The Wings for Life World Run is a first of its kind running race organized to raise awareness and funds for spinal cord injury research. The event will take place on May 4, 2014 in 35 different locations around the world, simultaneously. One hundred percent of registration fees go directly to the Wings for Life foundation to fund research.

In this inspirational video filmed in Australia, Barney shows how he continues to persevere to reach his goals of dancing at his wedding in 2015 and eventually walk again.

“Until then, I’ll ride, I’ll fly,  or catch a wave”  the inspiring Miller says.
