First Grader Shaves Head For Friend With Cancer

A story of the true friendship of Zac Gossage, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a fast growing cancer of the white blood cells, and his friend Vincent Butterfield.

Despite frequent trips to the hospital for chemotherapy, Zac didn’t want to miss school, so that he could still see his friend. Vincent was curious about the disease affecting his friend, and learned that Zac’s treatment was very expensive. So he started selling scarves for 15 dollars a piece and raised over $200 for his buddy.

But that wasn’t the end of his kind gestures of friendship, one day, Vincent showed up to Mrs. Koester’s class wearing a cap. “…He pulls off his stocking cap and here I see that he shaved his head,” said his teacher.

What is friendship, Vincent is asked. “A beautiful thing”.
