2 Cellos Play U2’s Where the Streets Have No Name

If I were to ask you to think about the type of music that is typically played by cellos, you’d likely say classical. And yes, that is absolutely true. But, that’s not the only possible genre and this video definitely proves that.

I personally happen to be a huge cello fan and my favourite band is U2 so you can imagine my glee upon discovering this video. Meet Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, two cellists from Croatia, who are known as 2Cellos. While they’re equally talented at playing Vivaldi and Bach, these two are becoming increasingly famous for their breaking the boundaries of music genres and performing not so traditional cello songs.

Here they are performing their arrangement of Where the Streets Have No Name by U2 at the Pula Arena in Croatia last July. And for something even more shocking (by classical music standards), check out their rendition of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck!┬áThis video was released just last week and already has over 5 Million views! I love how it starts as what you’d think is a classical music concert but then surprises everyone. What an amazing performance! These two are super talented and I love that they’re bringing cellos to the mainstream.
