He’s the boy who could fly, and now he’s married to Wendy. Saturday night at a Glasgow, Scotland performance of “Peter Pan”, the actor playing Peter proposed publicly to his co-star, the girl playing Wendy.
“So, ladies and gentlemen, normally this show would continue with Peter Pan watching Wendy and giving her a kiss,” Sandor Sturbl, 28, says just as the play is about to end. “Although this is not a normal show this evening. It’s not Peter Pan looking at Wendy.”
Strubl has been dating his co-star Jane Mary Sullivan (who goes by the stage name Lilly-Jane Young) for two years. This production of Peter Pan was taking place in Sullivan’s home town, so all her family was there to watch this touching moment.
Strubl then reveals an engagement ring as the rest of the cast shows their surprise and excitement. He then kneels and proposes.
“This is not a normal show,” he said. “This is the perfect moment, the perfect place.”
His new fiancée quickly says yes and the ensemble leaves the stage to loud applause. No word on a wedding date, but the show is touring the world.
